Until recently, I had up to five meetings per day with potential partners, customers, or simply for exchanging ideas. But I came to an important realization: having multiple fixed meetings in a single day completely drained me.

After just two or three scheduled calls, I would feel so tired that it felt like I had worked an entire day intensely, even if I had not achieved much visible progress.

So I made a major change. I stopped scheduling fixed meetings entirely. My calendar is now completely open, but anyone (including you!) can call me spontaneously at +49 2509 7463107.

I also call others spontaneously, such as our users, whenever it feels right. Yesterday, for example, I worked for 15 hours straight. I was energized, focused, and in the zone. This spontaneous approach suits me so much better.

I am not entirely sure why fixed meetings wear me out, but I asked ChatGPT, and the explanation made a lot of sense:

“This is actually quite common. Many people, especially founders or creative personalities, find fixed appointments draining or restrictive. You are not strange or disorganized — spontaneity simply works better for you.

Some possible reasons why scheduled meetings may feel stressful:
You may feel a loss of control because you have to be ready at a specific time
They might clash with your natural flow or energy rhythm
They can mentally block your day even if they only last 30 minutes
You might be more initiative-driven than structure-driven and prefer to decide when to act on your own terms”

I am curious to hear your experience.
Do scheduled meetings also drain your energy?
How do you manage them in your daily work?
